Vanished Season 1

Alice Monroe reunites with her long-distance boyfriend Tom in Paris, the head of a Syrian refugee charity. He’s planned a romantic trip to Arles, but vanishes without explanation during the train journey. When the police in Marseille dismiss her concerns, Alice begins her own search with the help of a journalist she meets on the train, Hélène Lando. Following clues left in Tom’s belongings, she uncovers links to his charity’s local branch and a colleague named Mira, causing her to question her boyfriend’s honesty and the reality of their entire relationship.

Alice continues her search for Tom with the help of Hélène, who reveals that she is conducting her own investigation. At Tom’s charity, his colleague Alex Durand tells Alice about a traumatic incident in Jordan that had left Tom unstable and prone to disappearing. She also learns of his closeness with Mira during this mission. Alice’s inquiry leads her back to the train conductor from her journey to Marseille. Hélène, warns her that Durand and Inspector Drax may also be untrustworthy.

As Alice’s doubts about Tom deepen, she continues investigating with Hélène, who is motivated by the chance to revive her career as a journalist. They follow Durand to the Marseille port, where they discover he is potentially colluding with Inspector Drax. Alice and Hélène tail Durand covertly and find more than they are bargained for. After an encounter with a trafficked girl who reacts in fear to Tom’s photo, and running from the police who are after her for the death of the train conductor, Alice hardens and alters her appearance, determined to get to the truth about Tom. Clues lead her and Hélène to the Marseille port and a container that has just arrived.

Alice and Hélène wake up bound and injured being patted down by Kachar. Alice escapes by wounding Kachar, though Hélène is left behind in a weakened state. Seeking help, Alice attempts to convince the suspicious Inspector Drax of her innocence and leads him to a warehouse where a trafficking sale is taking place. In the ensuing shootout, Alice learns the truth about Tom.
