RIGHTS: Worldwide excluding Japan
Akutsu, an elderly inmate serving a life sentence, is forced to confront his past when a talking balsam flower begins speaking to him in his cell. In 1987, the younger Akutsu lives in a rundown apartment with Nana and her newborn son, Kensuke, until sudden wealth pulls him into excess and neglect. When crisis strikes, he and his sworn brother Tsutsumi plan a reckless heist from their own organisation. This is a tale of one man’s rise, fall and final reckoning, and the people he loved along the way.
