Former popular TV anchor Shinnosuke Orimoto has been demoted from his primetime show to an affiliated radio station and as usual, is bored by the programme he is hosting. During the live broadcast, he takes a call from a listener who threatens to blow up a power plant. Assuming it is a prank, he hangs up. But soon after, the power plant suffers a devastating explosion. With the caller requesting Shinnosuke to act as a middleman between himself and the authorities, the TV anchor sees an opportunity to make a spectacular comeback with a live broadcast of negotiations.
