Lu Shigu, a computer programmer with a refined palate, meets book editor Zhang Jiayi by chance when they share a lunch table. Bonding over good food, the two become “food companions”, exploring the city through shared meals. As Lu lives under his mother’s expectations and Zhang faces career and relationship setbacks, their time together brings comfort, reflection and an unexpected connection that helps them rediscover what they want from life.
